Avoid pain.  Reproduce.  Are there any other biological imperatives?

If we are talking about all life, not just humans and other mammals, remove pain from the list because some life forms don't feel pain.

yeah, i agree with you with the breathing and sleeping. but maybe stay warm could be another example of avoiding pain?

and avoiding pain should be better stated as "avoid threats to existence"?

breathe, sleep, eat, reproduce. avoid threats to existence.
