Fear is the mindkiller.

  • May. 25th, 2008 at 10:22 PM
me

I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.

Anyone else a Dune fan? I'm reading Heretics of Dune right now, it's blowing me away.

I read Dune, and it was really weird and nifty. (The above quote is one of my all time favorite affirmations, BTW.)

Then I tried to read Children of Dune, and it was just weird and I couldn't get into it. I think I'd appreciate the Cliff Notes version more than the actual book...

Yeah, it gets weird and hard to follow sometimes, but I notice it usually comes at the beginning of the books - Herbert will introduce a lot of things at once from his sci-fi world, and then things will mellow out a bit. I recommend God Emperor of Dune, it was really trippy.

Hey Cassie! Yeah I can totally see Shane's obsession, it's my obsession too. Frank Herbert's a genius. So what are you up to? Are you still living in western MA? Hopefully you'll be around next month, I'll be back in the States from late August to late September, we should definitely hang out with the Stubommer.
